The purpose of this tool is to assist researchers to identify the film that a particular death certificate is located on. The tool is based on the original Microfilm Operator’s Reports and the Family History Library film descriptions for:

Death certificates for the state of Illinois, 1916-1945, excluding Chicago with the exception of stillbirths

Chicago, Illinois death certificates, 1916-1945

Illinois death certificates and stillbirths, including Chicago, 1946-1947

The Genealogical Society of Utah filmed the State of Illinois death certificates between 1988 and 1995. The death certificates were filmed in the sequence that they were filed by the state.

During the development of this tool numerous errors were found in the film descriptions. I am working with the Family History Library to correct these errors. The errors have been noted in this tool.
