XCOM - UFO DEFENSE, high school friends

Since Powerball is dying pretty badly, I reinstalled an old favorite of mine, Xcom - Ufo Defense. This game is AWESOME. Unfortunately, I've fogotten how hard superhuman is. 7 sectoids in a small scout craft???

Anyway, also had dinner with Alice + Boyfriend?, Albert, Kelvin, Stacey + Boyfriend?, and some other guy whose name I forgot. Eating at chinese restaurants is CHEAP. The 8 of us had a full meal and ended up paying $52 which includes the tax and tip.

Emma, FMP collection, Avacado Sandwich

My favorite anime of the spring season so far is Victorian Romance Emma. This show rocks. The romance follows the blueprint fairly closely, but its nice to have it between adults, rather than teenagers that most anime have. Its definitely slower than most of the stuff I normally watch. To the best of my limited knowledge, it seems fairly realistic in portraying the mannerisms and atmosphere of the Victorian Era in England. And the maid actually acts and dresses like a real maid.

I picked up the Full Metal Panic Complete Collection the other day, and after opening it up, I have to say, Thinpacks rock. The fact that they take up half the space of a normal DVD case is amazing. They're a bit to flimsy to sell standalone, unfortunately, but for collections in a box, they are perfect. Hopefully, more anime dvd collections are packaged this way. I'm more willing to buy it at least. The space savings would be huge. I would take a picture if my digicam was working... but oh well.

Last comment. Avacado sandwiches taste awesome. At least the way I make them. Toast two slices of bread. Take half an avacado and slice it up. Place avacado between bread. Damn its good.

Tsukuyomi 16, Aquarion

Tsukuyomi 16 was one of the better episodes. And it had some funny moments too.

Speaking of funny, Sousei no Aquarion is one of those shows that takes itself deadly seriously, but is really really cheesy. It has campy CG and historical mystical babble of some sort that makes me want to laugh out lout. I think I'll watch the show just to hear what the girl cries out when they form their Union. KIMOCHEE!!!

Maison Ikkoku Volume 10

So I've been reading Maison Ikkoku vol 10 and it is awesome. I think it was around the Yagami Arc that Rumiko Takahashi must have finally decided to give MI an ending because in this volume, all the key factors are introduced to resolve the story. I remember when I first read Maison Ikkoku (3rd year of college), the last third of story seemed to resonate really well with me, with Godai trying to find his place in life (the key being finding a decent job) and how to make his dreams work out with reality and all. And its still has that perfect comedic timing that Takahashi is famous for.

Comments on biking

So I went biking for a bit today. Actually to the Milpitas Borders to pick up some manga with their buy 2 get 1 manga free deal. Anyway, I got lunch at Cheese Taster, a turkey sandwich, half dine in, half to go, before heading out. I got about halfway there, when I had a rest break at a park. While I was resting on a picnic table in the shade under a tree, I watched a little asian boy (maybe 5-7 years old) pull down his pants and start peeing in the grass next to the sidewalk. At that moment, a white teenage boy (maybe 12-14 years old) zoomed by on his bike and yelled out, "At least do that behind a tree or something!"

On McCarthy Blvd, it got really windy and my allergies started acting up, and I basically ended up biking with one eye completely closed, and one eye barely open to lessen the amount of pollen that got into my eye. Once I reached McCarthy Ranch, I ate the other half of my sandwich and then picked up 3 manga, Maison Ikkoku vol 10, Fruits Basket 8, and Tuxedo Gin 11. Then I headed home. An hour later I did some pullups near my house and when I reached home I ate a can of fruit cocktail.

Hoi Hoi-san

Making these cards is kinda fun =D

Gankutsuou and Ichigo 100%

Gankutsuou ended, and I can't say I'm too pleased with the ending. It would have been better if it followed the novel more closely. Its funny how Hollywood is famous for changing endings into happy ones, but Gonzo made the ending to Gankutsuou less happy than the novel. Still an awesome series though, well worth watching. Hopefully Geneon puts out a good looking dvd this fall.

Anyway, the Spring anime season started, and it looks like there are some decent shows coming up. I watched the first episode of Ichigo 100%, this season's harem show. For some reason it started out much stronger than almost every other harem show I've ever watched, from Tenchi, to Love Hina, to Ai Yori Aoshi, to Girls Bravo. Generally, harem shows are really crappy and shallow, and generally I only end up watching it so I can see the one character that I like (the whole point of the harem genre is to provide enough girls so that there is at least one stereotypical girl that the viewers will watch for), so we'll see where this ends up.

Gmail mailbox size = infinity + 1

If you haven't looked on google's gmail main page, take a look. They have a pretty funny graphic on there. I wouldn't mind unlimited + 1 space. I guess another gig will have to do.

number systems

I wonder how much more advanced we would be technologically if we had a total of 8 digits instead of 10 on our hands.
