more biking around mission peak

I went back up Mission Peak with my bike and I actually went over to Monument Peak also and took some pics.

Here I was trying to get a pic of my cousins house, but the camera focused on the near rocks instead. You can see the golf course and the rock quarry pretty easily, along with a large portion of the valley.

A pic of Monument Peak, from another local peak. There are actually tons of large antennas in the area, but the one in the pic is fairly small.

The backside of the peak, which basically is a lot more hills and a reservoir.

A part of the path I took to get from Mission Peak to Monument Peak. You can see the channel 14 and 48 antenna on Mount Allison in the pic.

Another pic of the path.

A pic of Mission Peak from its "backside".

biking around mission peak

On Saturday, I finally took my bike up to Mission Peak. The way up is exceptionally brutal, and I had to walk my bike up about half the time. Near the peak, I split off on to the Eagle Trail to head to the "backside" of Mission Peak. It is one thing to look at Mission Peak in the background of my backyard every morning to check the smog/fog level for the day, and another thing to see it from the backside. After that, I headed to the bay area ridge trail that connects Mission Peak to Ed R Levin park in Milpitas. It was amazing biking around there. The winds are very strong, and you have an amazing view of the rest of the hills in the back and a gorgeous view of the south east bay in the front. Also, unlike Mission Peak itself, there is no one there, so you truly feel alone. The trail itself was very nice. It didn't have steep climbs or anything, since I was already at the top of the hills and the trail was comfortable to ride on. At some point I hope to spend the day to reach Ed R Levil park.
