EMPLOYMENT LAW research links

There are a lot of legal resources available on the internet these days.  Separating the really good stuff from the junk can be cumbersome, so below are some exceptional resources that can help "lighten the load," and eliminate some of the research drudgery.  Keep an eye on this page for the most important weapons in our arsenal.

FINDLAW is one of those really great resources for legal research, news and other information.  You can find forms, law school outlines marketing materials and a whole lot more at this site.  Take a look at it.  You won't be disappointed.  It's at:

If you're practicing labor and employment law in the state of California, an essential resource is the CALIFORNIA CODE OF REGULATIONS.  This searchable page is pretty easy to navigate and fast as well.  It's at:

http://ccr.oal.ca.gov/

The state agency that regulates unemployment rules and provides job search resources as well is the CALIFORNIA EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT.  The EDD site provides forms, links to applicable statutes and codes and other important tools.  Check it out at:

For information pertaining to the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, the CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF FAIR EMPLOYMENT & HOUSING page has what you need.  It's at:

U.S. EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION

One of the more useful federal government sites is the EEOC web site.  Replete with a copy of the EEOC administrative rules and regulations, a summary of federal discrimination laws and lists of federal resources that you can access quickly and easily, the EEOC site can be reached at:

FEDERAL RULES OF CIVIL PROCEDURE

For a searchable online version of the federal rules of civil procedure look no further than the Cornell University web site at:

Although you probably know that there are new federal rules regarding e-discovery, did you know that California has also proposed new e-discovery legislation? The proposed new rules have been approved by the Juducial Council. If you want to keep up with the latest in California discovery rules, check out this site created by former San Francisco Discovery Commissioner Richard Best:
