Every year in the United States, 12,500 children are diagnosed with cancer and it will kill more children than any other disease.  But very little is known about what causes childhood cancer.  The promising news is that significant progress in treating the disease has been made in the last several decades; this leads me to believe that we are moving closer to finding a cure!

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation (the beneficiary of the funds raised by my soon-to-be-bald head) supports the extraordinary work of CureSearch Children’s Oncology Group, which offers hope to girls and boys who bravely face cancer each year, and the families who love them.   To learn more about childhood cancer and CureSearch, click here.

The first St. Baldrick’s celebration was organized by three friends in New York City in 2000.  Since then, the event has raised nearly $7,000,000 to help find a cure for childhood cancer.  For more on the history of St. Baldrick’s Day, click here.
