Am I crazy? Well, probably a bit... but that is irrelevant. : )
Why am I doing this? Honestly, there are a lot of reasons, but I'll name just a few... · There are all sorts of bad things that have happened and continue to happen in our world. I want to be a force for good and this is a way for me to do that. If we all found a way to do just did a little bit of good, imagine the impact of our collective efforts. · I attended a St. Baldrick’s event last year, and noticed there were no female shavees! While I applaud the men who go bald for this great cause, by and large it’s not as large a sacrifice for them as it would be for most women. I want to represent for my gender! (Plus if Demi, Sigourney and Sinead could pull off the bald look, then maybe — just maybe — I can too!) · My brother and sister-in-law, along with many of my friends, have become parents in recent years. They've all been blessed with healthy children. I see how much they love their kids and can only imagine how difficult it must be for a parent to watch their child suffer, particularly with a horrible disease such as cancer. I am participating in St. Baldrick's as an expression of gratitude for the good health of the children in my life, and as an expression of hope for all those battling disease - especially cancer. · Often, we do not become passionate about a cause until we are personally impacted. We need to start caring more... taking action to find cures for diseases and helping those less fortunate than us, not just in our own country, but around the world. This is my attempt to do just that. · Most importantly, if you visit www.stbaldricks.org, you can read the stories of dozens of children who have faced cancer. Many are survivors. Sadly, some lost their battles. All of them are heroes. Their courage is remarkable and we could all learn a lesson or two from them. I urge you to read their stories... I guarantee you will be touched.
Once I'm bald, will I let people rub my head? I will be delighted to let any St. Baldrick’s supporters rub my head! J
